Dennis at the Patently Obvious Blog has a great post (worth reading) this morning discussing a New York Times piece on the X-Patents. “X-Patents” are:
The first 10,000 patents issued between 1790-1836 were not originally numbered and all records of them were lost in a fire at the patent office.
Examples of “X” patents include: x72 (Eli Whitney’s cotton gin) and x9430 (Samuel Colt).
