A reader asked me whether I knew how many patent attorneys each of the top ten patent recipients (2005) employed (in-house). Of course, I have no clue.
Maybe some of my readers can opine. Comments are open.

According to the USPTO’s list of registered patent practitioners, there are about 135 in-house patent practitioners (including both U.S. patent attorneys and U.S. agents) for IBM. The number includes both practitioners listing their business name as “IBM” and “International Business Machines” or some variation thereof and excludes addresses like Jenner & Block’s Chicago address that is One IBM Plaza.
Although that number includes some U.S. patent practitioners overseas, the number is probably substantially higher including the overseas in-house attorneys.
It is left as an exercise for the reader to conduct a USPTO search for the rest of the companies.
