This is a list of books/publications I recommend (or know others have recommended) for inventors:

1. Guy Kawasaki’s The Art of the Start. A preview of the book can be found here: http://guykawasaki.com/books/Artprop.pdf

2. Booklet (PDF) — From Invention to Innovation

3. Booklet (PDF) — AIPLA: How to Protect and Benefit From Your Ideas

4. Stand Alone, Inventor by Robert G. Merrick.

5. From Patent to Profit; Secrets and Strategies for the Successful Inventor by Bob Dematteis.

6. Founders at Work.

7. Turn Your Idea or Invention into Millions.

8. The Four Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich. Includes a great explanation of how to test market without having an actual product to sell.

9. The Mom Inventors Handbook

10.License Your Million Dollar Idea

11. The Inventor’s Bible: How to Market and License your Brilliant Ideas

12. Inventors Digest–THE inventor magazine. A must read for all new inventors.

13.  The Toy and Game Inventor’s Handbook.  If the invention is a toy, or a game…this is the starting point.

As I come across more…I’ll update this post (and will add quick summaries later). E-mail me (see the “Contact Me” tab above) if you have additional suggestions.
