freePat is back…free international PDF patent copies
October 12, 2007 on 8:20 am | In Patent Searching |Peter Eliopoulos had a great patent downloading tool called freePat a few years ago, based upon the pat2pdf script. At some point freePat stopped working and Peter stopped blogging.
It turns out that freePat stopped working because the program was checking in with Peter’s website (probably checking to see if an updated version exists). When Peter’s website went down…freePat broke.
Fellow Canadian patent blogger Sander Gelsing figured this out and registered Peter’s lapsed domain (solely for the purpose of fixing the issue with freePat). Now, freePat works again. Thanks Sander! His blog is Now, Why Didn’t I Think of That?
What’s great about freePat is that it allows you do download PDFs from around the world for free. Definitely worth checking out.
