In searching using Google Patent Search, I’ve occasionally come across patents that were missing from their database.  For instance, you do a search, click on a result, but are sent to a page where you’re told that that patent doesn’t exist.

When that happened to me today, for the heck of it I sent a quick e-mail to patent-support@google.com pointing out the missing patent.  A couple of hours later I received this message:

Hello Stephen,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Our engineers were quickly made aware of this issue, and it has now been resolved.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reply to this email and I’ll be happy to assist you.

Sincerely,

Ryan

The Google Patent Search Team

I don’t know who Ryan is…but the fact that they took the feedback and fixed the error so quickly is amazing.
Bravo!

Their “about” page does point out:

Q. Can I submit a suggestion or feature request for Google Patent Search?

A. Absolutely. Our team is working hard to improve Google Patent Search, and we encourage you to send us any suggestions you have. Just email us at patent-support@google.com.

Thus…if you have ideas, suggestions, or issues, let them know.  They really are listening.
