Speed dating: Inventors and Investors
October 5, 2006 on 5:40 pm | In Independent Inventors |“Speed dating” is a concept where “men and women are rotated to meet each other for only eight minutes. At the end of each eight minutes, they are forced to the next round no matter how much they are enjoying the interaction (or dread the next one). At the end of the event participants submit to the organizers a list of who they would like to provide their contact information to. To maximize the number of interactions, organizers often depart from the original idea and set meeting times as low as one minute per person. If there is a match, contact information is forwarded to both parties. Contact information cannot be traded during the initial meeting, in order to reduce pressure (especially on women) to accept or reject a suitor to their face.”
The Boise entrepreneur group “Kickstand” has a great idea…why not try inventors and investors speed dating?
Twice a year we sponsor a confidential event we’ve named Start-up Speed Dating as part of our mission: “to support innovators in any industry who would like to benefit from the experience, contacts and successes of other entrepreneurs.” Selected companies have the opportunity to pitch their business model to a variety of experienced investors in a speed dating format. The application process is simple and there are no strings (or fees) attached. We invite you to apply to participate in this month’s event.
