Tech Tip: Back up your data on-line, for free
July 11, 2006 on 8:11 am | In Tech Tips |If your computer died today, do you have a backup of your old emails, your “my documents” folder, your music collection, etc.? Shouldn’t you?
There are a number of different web based on-line backup sites that let you back up your data from your PC to a remote server (presumably at the undisclosed location VP Cheney resides). Most of these sites use a small program that runs on your computer after you’ve left the office for the day to back up your files off-site.
The latest backup site someone turned me onto is Mozy. Mozy is so convinced that you’ll like their service that they are willing to give you up to 2.0 GB of backup space for free. It is definitely worth a try.

I highly recommend online backup as well, but the 2GB that Mozy offers just isnt enough room for me or alot of other people. I have about an average amount of stuff on my computer (including photos, music, documents) and 2GB was not enough to backup all my data. If you want more room, definitely look at Carbonite Backup. Carbonite has unlimited backup. You can back up everything no matter how much. I’ve been using it for a while now and the service is great, everything works well and its saved me from so potentially major scares. If you want to back up your entire computer, I highly recommend Carbonite.
