ducttapepromDuct Tape!
The other day I stumbled onto this site: Stuck@Prom that shows high school prom dresses and tuxedos made from duct tape. No, I am not making this up. They are all competing for the Stuck@Prom scholarship(s). Here are the rules, including the need to answer the tie-breaker question: “How do you plan on using Duck® brand duct tape in college?”

Wow. In my day, future patent attorneys didn’t go to prom…oh how the times are changing.

This is a patent blog…I better talk about patents. Guess how many issued US patents (post-1974) have the phrase “duct tape” in the claims? Answer. These patents including: “Duct tape bandages;” “Grappling dummy and production thereof;” “Bingo sheet stacking apparatus;” and “Hydrostatic nut and lead screw assembly, and method of forming said nut.”

Apparently, duct tape was invented ~1942 by Johnson & Johnson.

Have a Happy Fourth!!!

[note: The prom picture (a nice 4th of July theme) is from the Stuck@Prom site. Great design!!]
