Association of Patent Law Firms Launches The Patent Lawyerâ„¢
Quarterly Magazine to Showcase Association, Member Firms

WASHINGTON – The Association of Patent Law firms (APLF) is pleased to announce it has launched a quarterly magazine aimed at raising the profile of the association and its member firms through the timely, thoughtful analysis of current issues in patent law. The inaugural issue of The Patent Lawyer™ will be released May 17.

Narrowly focused on patent law, The Patent Lawyer will be an authoritative resource for in-house counsel charged with managing corporate patent portfolios, as well as IP specialists and general counsel. Regular content will include coverage of noteworthy legal developments, relevant court decisions, and legislative/policy changes. APLF members will provide articles for the magazine, which is managed by an editorial board, also drawn from the APLF membership.

“We launched this magazine after identifying a need in the market for this kind of specialist publication for the patent field,” said APLF president James W. Kayden, an attorney with Thomas, Kayden, Horstemeyer & Risley (Atlanta). “We believed that there could be no better resource for this kind of information than members of the APLF.”

Formed in 1998, the APLF is a national association of law firms with a primary focus on patent law. The organization promotes the expertise of its members to clients and potential clients as the law firms best suited to handle all aspects of intellectual property work.

In addition to becoming a key resource on patent law for the legal community, The Patent Lawyer will serve a dual purpose in promoting the APLF.

“There is no better way to showcase an organization than by promoting its members,” said Jay M. Jaffe, president of Jaffe Associates, which is partnering with APLF to produce The Patent Lawyer. “The talent assembled within the APLF membership is impressive. The magazine is a way of harnessing that talent in order to build the reputation of the organization. We believe the magazine is a perfect vehicle to communicate the professionalism, knowledge and experience of APLF members.”
